The Nasarawa State Police Command has refuted social media claims suggesting that schoolchildren were kidnapped by suspected abductors in Keffi and the Gidan Zakara area of Karu Local Government Area.
A video circulating online alleged that armed men had taken pupils near Kilometre 10, Gidan Zakara, along the Keffi–Abuja road, causing alarm among residents and parents.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel, asserted that the command deemed these claims to be completely fabricated.
“The Command categorically states that the information is false,” Nansel remarked, noting that two individuals believed to have spread the false alarm have been apprehended for questioning.
He encouraged the public to disregard the rumor and to continue their daily activities without fear.
“Residents of the state are advised to conduct their lawful businesses,” the statement emphasized.
The police further reaffirmed their dedication to ensuring security throughout Nasarawa State and cautioned against the dissemination of misinformation that could incite panic.
