The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, has assured students of the University of Uyo, UNIUYO, that concerns over the non payment of their NELFUND upkeep allowances are receiving urgent attention.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the National President of NANS, Akinteye Babatunde Afeez, disclosed that the matter had been formally escalated to the leadership of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund , NELFUND, following complaints by affected students that they had not received their upkeep payments since January.

According to Akinteye, NELFUND has assured the student body that efforts are underway to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

He urged affected students to remain calm and hopeful while the payment process is being concluded, assuring them that NANS would continue to engage all relevant stakeholders until every legitimate concern is addressed and all deserving beneficiaries receive their entitlements.

“The welfare of Nigerian students remains our priority, and we will not relent in ensuring that their rights and interests are protected,” NANS president stated.

He reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advocating for the welfare of Nigerian students and ensuring that their concerns are adequately addressed.
