The National Association of Kano State Students (NAKSS) has reacted to the tuition fee increment at State owned varsity, the Northwest University, Kano.
Speaking to DAILY POST on Monday, the NAKKS President, Isyaku Ali Kanwa said the increment from about N17, 000 to about N57,000 has raised concern amongst students of the university.
He said the association has been receiving complains from all corners, asking that it intervene and appeal for a reduction, especially as students have already had plans to pay the normal tuition fee.
“As leaders, Kano students and already stakeholders have been urging us to look into the sudden tuition increase, since yesterday night (Sunday).”;
“I want to assure all that we have taken the necessary measure, the have spoken with the Kano state government, and they have assured us they have nothing to do with the fee increase, Ali Kanwa added.
He also revealed that NAKKS is in talks with the Northwest University management to navigate through and reduce the increase as soon as possible.
The NAKKS president called for calm, adding that there is nothing dialogue would not solve.
