NAF destroys bandits’ enclave, frees 76 hostages in Katsina

The Katsina State Government has confirmed the destruction of notorious bandit’s enclave and rescue of 76 victims.

Dr. Nasir Mu’azu,Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, who confirmed the development in a statement on Saturday, August 23, 2025, said a notorious bandit kingpin, Babaro and his gang’s enclave were completely destroyed, paving way for 76 kidnaped victims, including men, women and children to be freed.

According to the statement, the kidnappers were the masterminds of recent attack in Malumfashi community in Katsina State.

“This morning, the NAF carried out a decisive air operation at Pauwa Hill in Kankara Local Government Area, successfully rescuing 76 kidnapped victims, including women and children,” the statement said.

According to the statement, the operation was carried out early morning on Saturday.

The state government explained that the victims include those abducted during the attack on Unguwan Mantau in Malumfashi. It added that one child tragically lost his life during the ordeal.

The Katsina State Government while praising the troops, further urged residents in the state to volunteer information to security agencies to further decimate bandits across the state.
