Pakistan’s airport authority said the Karachi-bound K2 Airways aircraft had taken off from Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates.

But the aircraft experienced navigation system interference shortly after takeoff.

“K2 Airways B 737 of Pakistan Cargo Flight enroute from Sharjah to Karachi reported Navigational system issue and was promptly guided by KARACHI ACC,” Pakistan’s Airport’s Authority said in a statement.

Its last transmitted data point placed the aircraft at 1,100 feet above sea level.

The plane was falling at about 400km per hour – an extremely abnormal rate of descent.
