CHRISTMAS trees can be one of the most expensive aspects of the holiday season, with some artificial varieties priced at over £1,000.

It's no surprise that a mother has gained recognition for demonstrating how she made her affordable tree appear significantly more luxurious in just a short time.

Gem posted a video on TikTok showcasing herself alongside her tree, which appeared lush and festive next to the wall.

However, as the video progressed, she revealed the clever method she used to transform the otherwise rather sparse tree.

Gem was then seen turning the tree around – the back was nearly devoid of branches, as she had shifted all the branches to the front to create a much fuller appearance.

“Guess that’s what I get for buying a cheap Christmas tree,” she wrote in the TikTok overlay.

“Where there’s a will there’s a way!”

Viewers quickly took to the comments section to commend Gem for sharing her hack; one user remarked: “That’s oddly genius!!! Space-saving too!”

“That’s actually brilliant!” another person concurred.

“Oh, I am definitely doing this this year,” a third user commented.

“Oh my gosh, why didn't I think of this?” someone else inquired.

“And it fits better in the corner too,” another user pointed out.

“Wow, you might have just saved Christmas for me and my husband because THAT is the perfect solution to my space issue,” another user gushed.

While others noted that some adjustments might be necessary if Gem’s hack is attempted by others.

“Such a great idea, just be careful not to make it too front-heavy as it may tip,” one user advised.

“I've been doing this for years, but make sure you secure it with string and anchor it to the wall because too many decorations can make it tilt forward,” another user added, mentioning they had “learned the hard way.”

Additionally, some comments came from individuals sharing their own time- and money-saving festive hacks.

“I only decorate the front half as well!” one user shared.
