A SIGNIFICANT motorway has been closed, creating rush hour chaos for drivers following the overturning of a van.

Three out of four lanes on the M5 northbound are shut, resulting in delays of up to an hour and a half for motorists.

National Highways has reported five miles of traffic congestion.

The lanes are closed between Junction 6 for Worcester and Junction 5 for Wychbold in the West Midlands.

Drivers have been cautioned about delays lasting until midday.

“Three lanes (of 4) remain closed on the M5 northbound between J6 (Worcester) and J5 (Wychbold) due to a collision, which has resulted in an overturned van,” National Highways posted on X.

“Recovery teams are on their way to the scene.

“There is currently approximately 5 miles of congestion on approach, leading to delays exceeding 60 minutes.”
