Suspected herdsmen have allegedly attacked Tse-Nyibiam, a village near Ngban in Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area, Benue State.

The assault resulted in the tragic deaths of a mother and her son.

The victims, identified as Mlumun Iorhen Igbawua and her son, Terkimbir Iorhen Igbawua, were reportedly killed while tending to their rice farm, the same farm where their husband and father, Benjamin Iorhen Igbawua, was murdered earlier this year in May.

According to sources, the killings occurred as the mother and son were weeding the rice field, which had remained uncultivated since the initial attack that took Benjamin’s life.

His body is still at the morgue, awaiting burial.

A family member revealed that Terkimbir’s wife, initially declared missing after the attack, narrowly escaped death despite being tortured by the assailants.

She has since been located and reunited with her family.

Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the incident.
