However, Erica claimed she only did so to protect her 11-year-old daughter from being raped, according to Estado de Minas.
The defendant was first made aware of what was going on when she discovered harrowing texts her partner had sent to the young girl.
When she went to confront him, Erica found Everton forcing himself upon the screaming girl.
In the aftermath, she spiked her boyfriend’s drink with Klonopin – a medication used to treat seizures.
She then stabbed him while he was unconscious.
A teen then helped Erica carry Everton’s body to wasteland in Belo Horizonte.
Once there, she cut off the man’s testicles and set fire to his body.
Cops were able to link Erica to the killing after following a suspicious trail of blood to her apartment.
Once they confronted her, she handed over the murder weapon.
The mother also quickly confessed to the killing, but insisted it was only to save her daughter.
In court, prosecutors took issue with this.
They tried to argue that the brutality of the murder proved it was carried out “not in blind rage but with cold premeditation”.
However, to the defendant’s relief the jury sided with her.
Erica was acquitted of aggravated homicide and destroying a corpse after just one day of testimony.
This is not the first time a child abuser has come to a sticky end in Brazil.
In December, just hours after being released from prison.
CCTV showed two hooded gunmen approach Joao Ferreira da Silva as he left a hotel in Sinop.
The depraved individual was forced to put his hands behind his back before being led away from the entrance.
Moments later, he was shot at close range and collapsed on the pavement as his attackers made their escape.
The former bricklayer was sentenced to 42 years in prison for the brutal murder of a nine-year-old boy in 2005.
