There may be more troubles for the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Agency (ACTDA), Mr Ossy Onuko, who was accused of beating up a GUO Motors driver last week for overtaking his convoy.
This is coming as his party, All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has cancelled a rally which he was billed to hold for the party in Awka.
Onuko had earlier apologised for ordering thugs to beat up the driver and had followed it up by visiting the driver in the hospital, where he was receiving treatment, but was turned back and denied access to the victim.
There had also been calls for his sack, with many Anambra indigenes calling on Governor Soludo to relieve him of his position for being power drunk.
In a press release by the state party chairman of APGA, Ifeatu Obi-Okoye Onuko’s proposed rally was cancelled on the premise that he failed to inform the leadership of the party in the state of it.
The short release read: “State Chairman of APGA, Chief Sir Ifeatu Obi-Okoye, has cancelled and postponed the purported “Anambra Central Zonal Rally” being organized and facilitated by one Ossy Onuko as convener and one Prince Obinna Ndigwe.
“The rally was scheduled to hold on Saturday, October 28, 2023, under the acronym “Solution Team.”. Neither the Zonal leaders, critical stakeholders, nor even the party leadership in Anambra Central Senatorial Zone were ever consulted nor taken into confidence before such a so called mega rally was conceived or put into execution.”
Some prominent Awka indigenes where Onuko hails from had on Tuesday paid a visit to GUO Motors boss, Chief Godwin Ubaka Okeke to beg him on behalf of Onuko.
A source also said that there may be another visit to Governor Soludo soon, to save Onuko’s job. Onuko is believed to have been facilitated by a prominent Awka indigene, who nominated him for the ACTDA job.
