LIVERPOOL star Mohamed Salah has urged the club to give a proper send -off to their former captain Jordan Henderson.

The Reds host ‘s Brentford on the final day of the season at Anfield and the Egyptian winger would like the club to pay tribute to their former captain who “didn’t get the send-off he deserved.”

In an interview with fellow club legend , discussed his idea for the Premier League final day, when Henderson returns to Anfield with Brentford.

He said: “I think last game of the season against Brentford, people in the city know how much it meant to Hendo, being here, captain of the club for 12 years.

“More than me, more than Virg, more than Robbo, more than anyone. He didn’t get the send-off or farewell he deserved, because he left immediately.”

Former Reds skipper Henderson, 35, announced he was leaving in July 2023, meaning there was no opportunity for an Anfield farewell.

He joined Al Ettifaq, who were managed by Steven Gerrard, the day after he announced his departure from Merseyside.

The midfielder made 360 appearances for Liverpool between 2011-2023.

During this period he captained them to most notably the and the Premier League, in which he did the “Hendo shuffle” before lifting the trophies.

As a fan-favourite at Anfield, the Reds faithful were probably disappointed to not be able to give the Englishman a proper farewell.

Salah said: “I really wish they [the club] do something special for him because he’s been one of the best players in this club and without him we wouldn’t achieve what we achieved.

“So I really hope the fans will give him a good send-off.”

Salah himself will also be waving goodbye to the Liverpool supporters at the Brentford game after .

Following his , there were concerns that the two-time Premier League champion would have his season cut short but believes his team-mate might make a .

Since Salah’s plea for the club to give Henderson a proper farewell, Liverpool published his comments on its official website, effectively endorsing the idea, even if no formal announcement has been made.
