A MAJOR search is under way for a missing woman last seen entering the sea alone at a popular UK beach.
The huge search operation was launched after she was seen getting in the water from Weymouth Esplanade, Dorest, shortly after 11pm yesterday.
Cops are growing increasingly concerned for her welfare and have appealed to anyone who may have seen her to come forward.
Officers have been carrying out searches in the area with support from a National Police Air Service helicopter, HM Coastguard and the RNLI.
The woman is described as being of average build with long hair.
She was wearing a long, flowing dress when she entered the water, which was a lighter colour at the top.
Police said the woman was alone at the time of the incident and is not believed to have returned.
No belongings have been found during a search of the beach area.
