"Startling Sun Investigation Reveals Surge of Migrant Offenders Arriving in the UK by Small Boats"

KILLERS, rapists and sex offenders who commit crimes in EU nations are fleeing to the UK in record numbers on small boats, a Sun investigation reveals today.

Hundreds of offenders wanted for serious abroad are to try to escape justice by claiming asylum in Britain.

It has sparked a surge in the number of arrest warrants issued by nations seeking extradition — with more than 5,000 from alone in the past two years.

Arrivals from there included , 27, in a screwdriver attack in October last year.

But a Sun investigation into extradition cases has revealed many more are exploiting our .

Cases brought include alleged knife killer Milad Rahimi, a 25-year-old , found at the Manston Immigration Detention Centre in in April.

He fled Germany, crossed and illegally entered the UK after a 17-year-old boy was stabbed to death in a shopping centre near Hamburg in February.

National Crime Agency extradition officers arrested him and he was sent back to Germany where he is in custody awaiting trial.

Another Afghan who arrived in a small boat gave his name as Suhib Ahmadza when officials detained him.

But fingerprint analysis revealed he was 25-year-old Bashir Ahmad Bakari, who was wanted on a European arrest warrant for a murder in Germany.

He made the crossing from France following the murder of a 29-year-old Afghan man outside a subway station in the Billstedt area of Hamburg in August, 2024.

Bakari, who had already racked up three convictions for dealing, making threats and causing bodily harm since arriving in Germany in 2016, was extradited back there in March.

Another hunt for a migrant who left a 40-year-old man in Germany with life-threatening stab wounds injuries also ended at a UK immigration centre.

Davut Elitas, 26, was arrested at Yarl’s Wood Centre in Bedford after German contacted UK authorities.

He did not oppose extradition and was flown back under police guard in March.

Afghan migrant Said Hosinkhil, 27, fled Germany the same day a woman was knifed to death in her apartment before illegally making his way to the UK, a court heard.

Hosinkhil had claimed asylum in Germany and was provided with accommodation there until he left after the woman’s death.

But he has since been tracked down to a centre in and his extradition was ordered by Westminster magistrates.

He remains in the UK after lodging an appeal.

An Afghan was convicted of a sex assault in South Wales while he was fighting extradition to France for abusing a 14-year-old girl.

Abdul Wali Ahmadzai, 37, entered the UK illegally in 2019 by an unknown means and made an asylum claim.

He was first arrested on a European Arrest Warrant in July 2021 and his extradition to France was approved in October that year.

The judge was unable to authorise his extradition owing to his outstanding asylum claim — and he went on to carry out a sex attack on a woman in a Swansea park in April 2024.

A judge finally ordered his extradition earlier this month but he has yet to be removed.

Convicted paedophile Izalden Alshaik Suleman, 32. turned up in the UK while on the run from German authorities.

Suleman, who is wanted for a child sex offence there, was arrested by National Crime Agency officers at the Britannia Ashley Hotel in Hale, Manchester, on October 17.

Earlier this month, Sherzad Haji Mohammed, 29, was arrested on another warrant from Germany, where he is wanted in connection with murder and GBH.

Taxpayer-funded British lawyers are now helping both of them fight extradition.

In another case, wanted Lebanese crime gang member Mohammed Roumieh, who had 15 serious convictions in Germany, was given asylum after fleeing to the UK.

He gave a false name to immigration officials when he arrived in November 2024 and was placed in a taxpayer-funded home and put on benefits.

Extradition requests from Germany — where Angela Merkel allowed more than two million migrants to flood in after 2015 — now account for a quarter of cases filed since 2023.

Fugitives from nations including Afghanistan, Iraq, , , Eritrea have arrived after committing crimes in EU countries.

has issued the second highest number of requests to extradite fugitives, including migrants, ahead of France, , , and .

In the year from April 2023 to March 2024 Germany issued 2,618 arrest warrant requests to the UK – 24 per cent of all those received from EU members.

This grew by seven per cent to 2,814 for the 12 months to March 2025 — a total of 5,432 in two years.

Germany issued EAWs for at least six alleged murderers, plus more in connection with manslaughters, GBH, sex crimes, people smuggling and drug trafficking in the past year.

Shadow Home Secretary said: “It should never have been possible for anyone with serious convictions abroad to claim asylum here.

“Yet under Labour, we have foreign offenders with dozens of convictions being granted indefinite leave to remain and access to benefits. That is a complete collapse of border control and public safety. This has now become a national emergency. The government must immediately investigate who has entered the country illegally and who has been granted asylum or benefits.”

The Home Office said: “Mandatory security checks are an essential part of our border controls and are conducted on all small boat arrivals, by linking biometric data to immigration, security and criminality databases. Where criminals or threats are identified, we seek to remove them as soon as possible.”
