MICHAEL VAN GERWEN faces the possibility of missing a major tournament for the first time due to a scheduling conflict with his holiday.
The star has struggled this year following his loss in the final of the tournament.

Michael van Gerwen risks missing out on the Players Championship Finals.
He was eliminated in the early rounds of another major event this week, the tournament, by Dirk van Duijvenbode.
Now, he could potentially miss out on the entire competition.
Van Gerwen has participated in every edition of the tournament since it began in 2009.
However, he currently sits outside the top 64 in the Players Championship rankings after skipping several events, with only four remaining for him to qualify.
To complicate matters, the Dutchman will miss two of those events as he is vacationing in Dubai.
He stated in an interview on the Darts Draait Door podcast: “I’ll be in Dubai on holiday for the last two tournaments.
“So I need to perform well in the other two tournaments after the Grand Prix. One way or another, I need to win one.”
Van Gerwen, 38, is currently ranked joint 92nd after earning only £14,500 in prize money.
However, winning a single week guarantees a prize of £15,000, with the runner-up receiving £10,000.
Van Gerwen must secure an additional £8,000 to move into a qualifying position.
