MICHAEL OLIVER accidentally clattered Spain superstar Dani Olmo as the English referee held his hands up in World Cup quarter final.

Fabian Ruiz put the European champions ahead in the 30th minute but a subsequent Spanish attack was halted with Oliver’s misstep.

Minutes later, found the back of the net as conceded their first goal in over 600 minutes.

The box office Los Angeles fixture headed into the break equal as fans rushed online to comment on the blunder.

One fan wrote: “Michael Oliver putting in a better defensive shift than some centre-backs tonight.”

Another said: “Michael Oliver doing more than defenders.”

A third added: “We got the ref tackling players now.”

Someone else quipped: “Ref just broke the momentum , olmo could’ve created something out there.”

Whoever comes out on top of this quarter final will set up a date with favourites in Texas on Tuesday.
