MANCHESTER UNITED are monitoring the situation of a World Cup star in the event Noussair Mazraoui leaves the club, according to reports.

It is set to be a busy summer at with a number of outgoing and incoming stars under the watch of , who is expected to be announced as the new manager after guiding them back into the Champions League.

The priority is understood to be midfield, while other areas such as winger, striker and defence are also being looked at for reinforcements.

And one such player who has entered the club’s radar to potentially be Carrick’s first buy is Julian Ryerson, according to Sky reporter Patrick Berger .

The full-back is reportedly being considered as a back-up option to .

Ryerson is set to be included on ‘s official World Cup squad list alongside the likes of when it is announced tomorrow – having played in every single qualifying game.

The 28-year-old chipped in with 15 assists in the for Dortmund as they finished second this season, while adding three more in the and DFB-Pokal.

It is estimated he will cost upwards of £26million.

But the claim adds United will only make a move if Moroccan defender Mazraoui departs this summer.

United purchased Mazraoui, 28, for just shy of an initial £13m from in 2024.

The versatile star, who is also likely to be at the World Cup this summer, has played right-back, left-back, wide centre-back and, strangely, as a No10 for the Red Devils.

He has two years remaining on his deal at Old Trafford with the option for an additional year.

Previous reports in Italy suggested Mazraoui was on the radar of giants Juventus.

Mazraoui has appeared 76 times for United since joining, though injury and Afcon duties have seen his participation this season limited to just 19 games.
