MICHAEL CARRICK will address Manchester United fans this weekend and all-but confirmed his status as the club’s manager next season.

Carrick’s camp have been at Carrington for talks regarding his new deal to take the job on a permanent basis.

Quizzed about the impending news, Carrick said: “There’s two games to go, apart from that there’s not much else to say. The situation is pretty clear for us all.”

Well-placed sources say Carrick has been offered a two year deal, with the option of a further year.

On what this season has meant, Carrick said: “It’s a unique football club, a special club.

“Immensely proud to have come back and been a part of it, as a supporter and ex-player, as a pure supporter to be in a position to come back and help and move forward was important.

“To make a big step, and back in the is good, we’re happy with the work we’ve done so far.”

Carrick confirmed he will address 74,000 fans after the Forest match to “thank them for this season”.

He said: “I think that’s important, regardless of the situation. I think it’s important because of the supporters, and we thank them.

“And I certainly thank them for the season and the support, and certainly in the last four months, for however long it’s been for me personally.

“So I know you’re getting at in terms of future and what that brings, but I think regardless of that, I think for what, we’ve gone through together so far, and that connection, and I felt that the players have felt that.

“So I think it’s important that we have that anyway. So, certainly, for me to thank the fans for that is important.”

Carrick revealed Casemiro will be available for his final home game on Sunday, as United host .

The head coach said: “Casemiro is available. I can speak for since I’ve been here and met him, obviously, and worked with him.

“He’s been fantastic for us, for me personally, for us as a group. The clarity has helped of knowing the situation, and for him and for us too, for him to get his head in the place.

“He give absolutely everything in every aspect, knowing that it was going to come to an end at the end of the season.

“It is credit to him for the way he’s gone about that, and just because it’s coming to the end and there’s clarity with it, it’s easy to go the other way as well.

“We had some ups and downs over the years, but to finish so strongly and to see that connection that he’s got with his reporters is really good to see.”
