MEXICO fans turned up the volume outside Ecuador’s team hotel in a bid to give their side an extra edge before their huge World Cup showdown.

Hundreds of fans descended on the hotel late into the evening armed with car horns, motorcycles, trumpets and drums as they attempted to keep Ecuador’s squad awake ahead of the huge last-32 clash.

Videos shared on social media showed a wall of supporters creating a deafening noise outside the building.

Several players could reportedly be seen peeking out from their hotel windows to see what the commotion was about.

Car horns blasted continuously as revving engines mixed with chants from supporters dressed in colours.

The scenes quickly went viral online, with many fans opposing the Mexican fans pre-game tactics.

One supporter wrote: “Umm okay have these never heard of noise cancelling ear buds or headphones?”

Another said: “I hope I’m wrong but this feels like bad karma. Watch Ecuador win.”

A third joked: “Guess the Ecuador squad will be perfecting their nap game instead of their passes.”

The noisy welcome comes as host nation Mexico prepare to continue their dream start to the 2026 World Cup.

El Tri have won all three of their group matches without conceding a single goal, making them one of the tournament’s standout teams heading into the knockout stages.

But Ecuador will arrive full of confidence after producing one of the shocks of the competition by coming from behind to beat 2-1 in their final group game, sealing their place in the last 32 as one of the best third-placed nations.

Whether the sleepless night has any impact remains to be seen, but the Mexico faithful have already done everything they can to give their team home advantage before a ball has even been kicked.
