The Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has approved the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Otukpo (FUHSO).
The approval was confirmed during the weekend by a staff member of the institution, who disclosed that the approval also includes authorisation for the training of House Officers at the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Otukpo.
The development comes days after concerns and protests by MBBS students over accreditation issues affecting the programme.
The students had earlier raised concerns about the status of the programme, prompting reactions within the institution.
The latest approval is expected to address the concerns of the students and strengthen medical training at the university and its teaching hospital in Otukpo.
