World’s football governing body, FIFA, on Thursday, mourned the sad death of Liverpool’s Diogo Jota, and his brother, Andre Silva, who played for Portuguese side Penafiel.

Both footballers had died in a road accident in Spain in the early hours of Thursday.

Reacting, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, in a post on Instagram, prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

He said: “I’m deeply saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.

“May they rest in peace. They’ll both be so sorely missed by all those who knew them and by the worldwide football community.

“On behalf of FIFA and the wider football family, my thoughts are with their family and friends.”;

The FIFA president then went further to sympathized with the Portuguese Football Federation, Liverpool and Penafiel.
