As Nigeria marks this year’s May Day celebration, the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Dr Danladi Jatau, has commended workers in the state for their dedication, resilience, and crucial role in driving governance and development.

In a statement signed by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, Speaker Jatau described civil servants as the “engine room of government,”; praising their patriotism and contributions to state-building despite challenges.

The Speaker reiterated the commitment of the 7th Assembly under his leadership to enacting legislation that will enhance workers’ welfare and improve working conditions across the state.

“We will continue to support policies and laws that promote the well-being of workers and enable them to serve with dignity and pride,”; he said.

Jatau also hailed Governor Abdullahi Sule for his administration’s focus on worker welfare, citing the prompt payment of salaries, pensions, and gratuities, the absorption of casual staff into the civil service, and the ongoing staff training initiatives.

He stated the importance of sustained collaboration between labour unions and the government, assuring organized labour of the Assembly’s willingness to work together for effective service delivery and industrial harmony.

The Speaker urged workers to remain committed, united, and focused on the progress of Nasarawa State, reaffirming the legislature’s unwavering support for their capacity development and overall welfare.
