The pair met in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
And it was Selby who with a deciding-frame thriller.
However, Williams boasted the finest moment of the match.
He pulled off an amazing shot that left even the commentator in disbelief.
But whether Williams actually meant the pot is another matter entirely.
The star took nearly three minutes to make his move, having raced into an early two-frame lead.
Williams carefully considered his angles before hitting a red.
The ball then struck two other reds, sending them off in opposite directions.
And one managed to find its way straight into the corner of the table, with fans reacting with a round of applause.
Williams’ piece of magic also left the commentator stunned.
He declared it to be one of the finest shots he’d ever seen.
But the pundit was less sure whether Williams had actually meant to make the hit.
He said: “Wow, did he play that? Well he took 2 minutes and 59 seconds, I think that’s the longest I’ve ever seen him on a shot.
“He must have played the red to the right corner, surely. But he didn’t flinch.
“He’s claiming it. It doesn’t matter way but he didn’t apologise.
“Extraordinary business.”
The other commentator added: “He landed perfect as well. Put it this way.
“If he played it, this is one of the hot shots. If he’s played it, it’s one of the greatest shots you’ll see. I think he must have tried to plant the other red.”
Fans also reacted online, with one saying: “He definitely played it, incredible shot.”
Another declared: “He’s done a similar shot before.”
One noted: “Looks like he played the plant.”
Another added: “Still lost the frame from here somehow.”
