As has been the case throughout the last few years, Barca find themselves scrambling around in order to navigate LaLiga financial rules and register all their players.
With one of their highest-earners Marc-Andre ter Stegen a long-term absentee, the Catalan side felt that they had found a loophole in order to solve their issues.
Should LaLiga bosses deem the German’s injury to be severe enough to cause him to miss at least four-five months, Barca would be able to use funds elsewhere.
In order to do so, however, club bosses need Ter Stegen to sign off on a medical report being sent to the league.
The veteran stopper, 33, has so far failed to do so since undergoing back surgery last month, insisting at the time that he would miss just three months.
Barcelona have incredibly launched disciplinary proceedings against Ter Stegen, stripping him of the club’s captaincy.
According to Spanish paper Marca , Ter Stegen refusing to sign the medical report could see up to SEVEN Barcelona stars unable to play against RCD Mallorca.
Rashford , who arrived on loan from Manchester United last month, is one of them.

The England winger, 27, has enjoyed a productive pre-season so far, scoring against South Korean side Daegu last time out.
In addition to Rashford, fellow new signing Roony Bardghji is also at risk of missing out.
Earlier this summer, Barcelona signed goalkeeper Joan Garcia from city rivals Espanyol , effectively to replace injury-plagued stopper Ter Stegen.
Garcia is another they cannot currently register, as well as fellow goalkeeper Wojciech Szczcesny, who came out of retirement to sign for Barca during last season.
Youngsters Marc Bernal, Gerard Martin and Hector Fort also find themselves at risk of missing out.
Former Southampton ace Oriol Romeu would also fail to make the squad as it stands.

But having spent last season at Girona, the veteran midfielder is expected to leave Barcelona soon.
Barca did manage to ease some of their woes by selling Inigo Martinez to Al-Nassr yesterday.
But the Catalan side are expected to have to agree to more outgoings as the Ter Stegen situation rumbles on.
Flick’s men are set to conclude their pre season with a home clash against Cesc Fabregas ‘ Como on Sunday.
