LUCAS AKINS has been named in Mansfield Town’s squad list for League One despite being in prison.
The footballer will be free to resume his career on the pitch once he has been released.

Akins, 36, started a 14-month prison sentence in April after by careless or inconsiderate driving.
The incident happened back in March 2022 as he hit 33-year-old Adrian Daniel while driving his G350 near Huddersfield.
The have reported that he could be available for release after serving half of his sentence.
This would see him potentially serve the remaining seven months on license.
As a result, his potential release could allow him to return to the pitch for the Stags before Christmas.
Mansfield confirmed in May that it was “continuing to consider its position” over Akins in .
It had been believed that his contract at Field Mill expired at the end of the 2024/25 season.
However, the player remains on the club’s official website squad list.
His name also appears on the club’s squad list on the website.
A statement from Mansfield read: “The club will review Lucas’ position as and when he is released from custody and will make no further comment at this time.”
The Stags have started their campaign with three wins in their first seven games.
This has left the club 11th in the table, three points off the play-off places.
Akins joined the club back in 2022 from and has gone on to make 154 league appearances and scored 28 goals.
He has made waves on the international stage as he earned seven caps for Grenada.
He scored twice for the Caribbean nation with one coming against Saint-Martin and the other in a defeat to Saint Lucia.
