COPS have launched a probe after a man’s body was discovered in a popular park.
A cordon was put in place around the wooded area in Hinckley, Leicestershire, following the shocking discovery yesterday morning.
Emergency services were scrambled to Wykin Park just after 8.30am following reports a body had been found.
An eyewitness recalled seeing police and forensic vans in the park, as well as a green tent.
They told LeicestershireLive : “It doesn’t look good at all. We only went for a park trip and saw all of that.”
Leicestershire Police confirmed a cordon had been put in place around the park yesterday.
The death is not being treated as suspicious and an inquest is set to take place at a later date.
Releasing a statement last night, the force said: “Just after 8.30am today police were called to Wykin Park in Hinckley following a report that the body of a man had been found.
“Officers attended and a scene preservation is in place.
“His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
“Identification of the deceased is a matter for HM Coroner.”
The park is run by local authority Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council and is open to the public 24 hours a day.
It comes just days after a dog walker discovered “charred” human remains in a woodland .
Police were called after the body of a man was found at Savernake Forest, just outside Marlborough, Wiltshire , on Monday.
The alarm was raised by a horrified dog walker at around 8am.
Wiltshire Police confirmed an urgent investigation was launched after “a body had been found in Savernake Forest.”
Forensic officers were seen carrying out investigations earlier this week.
The force have not revealed how long the remains are believed to have been there.
