Manchester Airport viewing platform evacuated over ‘gas leak’ fears as fire crews scrambled

A MAJOR UK airport’s visitor centre has been plunged into chaos after it was evacuated amid reports of a gas leak.

Staff and members of the public were forced to flee the buildings at the Runway Visitor Park earlier today.

Alarms were heard sounding as fire service vehicles scrambled to respond to Airport.

Unconfirmed reports from the scene suggested the evacuation was sparked by a potential leak.

Video footage from the chaotic scene shows dozens of staff and bystanders running from the buildings in a panic.

Fire engines arrive shortly later and are directed to the buildings by staff members.

A witness told Manchester Evening News : “I’m currently at Manchester Airport Visitor Centre where three fire engines are in attendance, along with two fire and rescue vehicles, as well as airport security.

“The whole buildings around the Visitor Centre have been evacuated as far as we know, or we’ve been made aware of everyone to move away into the car park due to a .”
