MANCHESTER UNITED are set to sign teenage goalkeeper Kit Margetson from Swansea City.

The 19-year-old son of former goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson enjoyed a solid season on loan in the Cymru Premier.

With Margetson out of contract this summer, Swansea said in May that they were “in discussions” over a new deal.

But, the Swans now expect Margetson to depart, with United poised to pay a compensation fee to secure his services.

United will likely loan Margetson to an club this summer to continue his development in senior football.

Margetson Jr joined Swansea at under-15 level and has not featured for the club’s first team.

He played regular senior football during a loan spell at Connah’s Quay Nomads in 2025-26 and is a Wales Under-21 international.

The youngster’s dad spent eight years as ‘s main goalkeeping coach between 2016-2024.

Martyn initially joined the Three Lions in 2016 under , before becoming a key part of ‘s staff that reached two Euros finals and the 2018 World Cup semi-finals.

He is currently on ‘s Wales‘ staff and left his role as head of goalkeeping at Swansea this summer.

Martyn made 50 appearances for United’s rivals City in the 90s.
