A largely steady performance, albeit against a side not renowned for attacking relentlessly.

His distribution was sometimes lacking when he approached the area. Booked. 6

Smacked a volley straight at shortly after Atletico took the lead.

Spent more time in the Atletico half than his own as he regularly supported attacks amid sustained spells of possession for United. 6

Andrey Santos

Upstaged by in midfield but compatible partnerships require such a balance to function.

Could have got on the ball more in the Atletico third but also happy to drop deeper than the defenders to get on the ball. 6

Mason Mount

Another bright performance from midfield.

Mount’s sharpness on the ball led to an early shot from Shaw and he played Mbeumo in to win a free kick that Amad nearly scored from. Another impressive performance. 7

His deflected free kick was just about kept out by Oblak. Worked hard and first appearance after the and had plenty of the ball.

Came off at half-time as he only reported for pre-season this week. 6

Shea Lacey

Did not immediately settle in his new role as the No10 and had some joy when he drifted to the right, crossing in for Mbeumo.
