Boss Tuchel has come under fire for his defensive changes after opened the scoring.

The German threw on defenders , and while Gordon, and were taken off.

The changes saw take the initiative and score two late goals to win the match before full-time.

legend Butt was not impressed with the former manager’s in-game management.

He has claimed that there is “no way” that Tuchel can remain in place after that showing.

Speaking to Paddy Power , Butt said: “There’s no way he can stay on. Not a f***ing cat in hell’s chance after that.

“If he stays on, John McDermott (technical director at The FA) needs to be sacked as well.

“There’s no way you can keep him now. He’s not a Sir Bobby Robson or Kevin Keegan, someone that the nation loves.

“You’re talking about a manager that’s come in and played negative , crazy negative football, in the semi-final against a beatable Argentina team.

“And it shouldn’t really matter, but people will go against him because he’s German as well, so he’s going to have a nightmare.

“He’s an unbelievable club manager, so just let him go. He won’t want to stay. He might say he does, but deep down he’ll be thinking, ‘pay up, I’m out of here’.”

Butt has suggested that Newcastle manager or should be in the next in line to lead the Three Lions.

He said: “If we were nine months down the line, I’d definitely be going for Pep Guardiola.

“But Pep can’t leave Man City a month ago, saying he needs a rest from football, and then go straight back in. He can’t do that.

“Eddie Howe would be brilliant. I’d love him to go in, it’d be great.

“‘s got an unbelievable relationship with John McDermott and he picks it [the Manager].

“When McDermott was the academy manager at Tottenham, Pochettino was the manager, and they had a really, really good relationship.

“I was in and around it with the Manchester United academy, we would do training camps there so I’ve seen it first-hand.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened and I wouldn’t be against it at all.

“He’s a very, very good manager. A likeable person, plays good football everywhere he goes.

“But we all said the same about Tuchel, yet when they go into that England dynamic, they just change, it’s crazy.

“I can’t put my finger on why.”

He has also claimed that captain should be dropped in favour of players who could be in their prime come the next international tournaments.

He added: “If I was in charge of The FA now, I would go and get to manage the national team and say to him, ‘you pick a squad for the next 12-24 months of nearly all under-25s’.

“There’s a couple that could be an exception at age 26/27/28, but 90% of them need to be under 25 and ready to play the next two or three tournaments.

“We can’t keep relying on Harry Kane. He is an unbelievable genius of a footballer. I love him. He’s a goal-scoring machine but we need to be able to go and win something in two, four or six years.

“We could go into a tournament in two years’ time with a group of young players, lose it but learn and then go and win the World Cup in four years.

“You’re not going to be able to do that with players over 26, 27. It just doesn’t work.

“There would be some obvious exceptions, like a Declan Rice and certain others, two or three of them.

“Peter Taylor did it with us but it was only for a very short period of time, he made captain and every single one of us was 25 and under.

“It didn’t work out because he left and then another manager came in and scrapped it.

“And I get why a manager wouldn’t do it because they will think they are going to get sacked if they don’t win.

England ratings vs Argentina: Kane quiet when it matters most but Spence shines

ENGLAND’s bid to reach their first World Cup final since 1966 ended in a heartbreaking, yet predictable, defeat to Argentina.

Thomas Tuchel’s side suffered a devastating 2-1 defeat to Lionel Messi and Co at the Atlanta Stadium this evening.

Anthony Gordon sent the travelling Three Lions fans into a state of ecstasy in the 53rd minute when he ghosted in at the back post to tap the ball home inside the 18-yard box.

England tried to protect their lead as Thomas Tuchel made a host of defensive substitutions.

And they inevitably sat way too deep, allowing Enzo Fernandez to rifle the ball past Jordan Pickford in the 85th minute with a rocket from outside the 18-yard-box.

England were shell-shocked and never looked like holding out until extra-time.

And super-sub Lautaro Martinez was at hand to break Three Lions fans’ hearts across the globe with a free header at the back post in the 92nd minute.
