MANCHESTER UNITED flop Matteo Darmian has joined Bologna on a free transfer, four months after leaving Inter Milan.
, 36, spent four hapless years with United where he registered a mere one goal and three assists in 92 appearances, but won the FA Cup and Europa League.


But the full-back turned his career around at Inter, where amassed 13 goals and as many assists in 218 appearances during a glittering six-year spell.
The ex-Italy international, though, ran out his contract at Inter in June, just a month after adding a domestic Double to his trophy case.
Last season’s heroics, which led the Nerazzurri to yet another automatic qualification to the , proved Darmian is still hot property in Italy.
That led to a move to , who signed him on a short-term contract until June.
The side announced: “Bologna FC 1909 announces that it has acquired defender Matteo Darmian until June 30, 2027.”
Darmian started at ‘s academy in 2000 at the age of 11 and was promoted to the first team six years later, but only managed six appearances before going to Palermo in 2010 after a short loan at Padova.
The right-back got his big break in 2011 when he joined Torino and went on to register six goals and 11 assists in 151 appearances during a successful four-year spell.
That led to interest from who landed him in 2015 but he quickly fell down the pecking order behind the likes of Antonio Valencia, Diogo Dalot and Daley Blind.

But the versatile defender turned his career around at Parma in 2019 where he picked up 37 appearances on his debut campaign and that led to a loan move to Inter only a year later.
Darmian’s move to the San Siro quickly turned into a permanent deal and he went on to enjoy the best years of his career.
During his time with he won three Serie A titles and as many Coppa Italia trophies.
Darmian also played in the 2023 and 2025 Champions League finals, which the Milan giants lost to and Paris Saint-Germain respectively.
