Bruno Fernandes lifts lid on Marcus Rashford turnaround but names one player who still beats him into training every day

MARCUS RASHFORD is always among the first Manchester United players to arrive at training each morning, claims skipper Bruno Fernandes.

But one team-mate tends to be first at Carrington just ahead of .

The winger over the summer following 18 months out on loan.

Rashford spent the second half of the 2024-25 campaign at after being frozen out by former boss , before heading to last term.

With Barca having declined to make the deal permanent, instead favouring a £70million swoop for , Rashford has been given another chance at his boyhood club.

Speaking to Sky Sports about mornings at Carrington, revealed: “Normally, always Diogo [Dalot]. He’s always here first.

“This season, also Rashy, and Ben [Sesko], are normally the ones that arrive early. Together with me.

“But obviously it depends. Because I sometimes like to drop my kids at school, so sometimes I get in even earlier because they are [at] school at 8:20 or 8:30.

“So, I come straight away and I get here early. But normally Diogo is already here!”

Rashford, 28, has started United’s last two Premier League games after coming on at half-time during the opening day defeat to Hull.

The attacker, who has scored 138 goals for United during his career, is yet to score or assist this term but has looked lively on the wing.

His boss Carrick has been pleased with his overall contribution and attitude.

Following Thursday’s , during which Rashford remained an unused substitute, the Man Utd manager said: “Really pleased with Marcus.

“Really pleased with him, so many ways. I think it’s pretty obvious with his performances.

“Again, he was a real threat on Sunday, unfortunate not to get a little bit more success, but he was a real threat. I’m not really sure what else to say. We’re just really pleased to have him.

“He’s doing a lot of things really well and settled back in really quickly. It was nice to keep Marcus fresh for the weekend.”

United take on City in the Manchester derby this Sunday.

Rashford has played 23 times against City in his career, scoring seven goals.

All but one of these games have come for United, with the other for Villa in April 2025.
