A man has died following a tragic stabbing incident in southeast London.

Authorities have initiated a murder investigation after a man in his 20s was stabbed in Lewisham earlier today.

The London Ambulance Service responded to the incident, and paramedics provided treatment to the victim at the scene.

He was subsequently transported to the hospital, where he sadly passed away.

A representative from the Metropolitan Police stated that no arrests have been made related to the stabbing.

“Formal identification and a post-mortem examination will occur in due course,” the spokesperson added.

The man's next of kin has been notified, according to the statement.

Superintendent Nick Jowett, from the Met’s Royal Borough of Greenwich Policing team, expressed: “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family during this difficult time.”

“Although we are in the very early stages of the investigation, I assure you that detectives are working diligently to identify those responsible for this senseless act.”

“In the meantime, local residents can expect to see an increased police presence in the area. Please feel free to approach them if you have any concerns.”
