A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a grandmother was stabbed to death in her quiet countryside cottage.
, 68, was found with a stab wound to her neck after emergency crews were scrambled to her home in Cheriton, , on January 9.

Medics battled to save the grandmother’s life but she was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
A man in his 30s was also found at the address suffering what were initially described as injuries to his neck and leg.
The man, from nearby Alton, was known to Gilly and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
He has since been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with the incident.
He will remain in hospital until he is well enough to be taken to a station, cops said.
Investigators from Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary continue to probe the murder.
Anyone with any information, CCTV or dashcam footage relating to the incident is asked to contact the police immediately.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after officers visited the cottage before Gilly’s death, the Daily Mail reports.
A neighbour told the publication: “Gilly has chickens, free range chickens, and I used to get my eggs from her. She was a lovely woman.
“She was very friendly. I knew her just a little bit but it is just devastating. It’s so awful. She was very gentle, very kind.”
Inspector Stuart Ross, from Winchester district, said: “Detectives continue to work hard to find out exactly what happened to Gilly.
“We would like to thank the local community in Cheriton for their patience while we carried out our initial enquiries.
“I would like to re-iterate that we do not believe there is any wider threat or risk to the local community.
“If people do have any further information that they think may help our , then please contact us.
“In particular, we are still keen to hear from anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage in Cheriton between the hours of 11pm on January 8 and 11am the following day.”
