A MAN has been arrested after trying to kidnap a young boy at leisure centre swimming pool.

Cops raced to Merthyr Tydfil Leisure Centre in South Wales on Friday to reports a man had attempted to snatch a child.

An 82-year-old man was arrested after worried staff raised the alarm.

South Wales Police have quizzed the man over the alleged snatch attempt and he has since been bailed.

A force spokesman said: “South Wales Police was called to Rhydycar leisure centre on Friday January 16, to an alleged abduction attempt.

“Officers attended and an 82-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil was arrested at the scene on suspicion of detaining a child without having lawful control.

“He has been released on police bail while investigations into the incident continue.”
