COPS have arrested a man after a car ploughed into pedestrians in a city centre.

Emergency services raced to the scene where they found a number of people injured in Derby city centre on Saturday evening.

Derbyshire Police say the incident involved a blaxk Suzuki Swift in Friar Gate at about 9.30pm.

A vehicle believed to have been involved was stopped by officers shortly after the horror incident, the force said.

The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested and is in police custody.
