A THIRD person has died after contracting malaria from a mosquito reportedly trapped on a plane to Germany.

Several people were rushed to hospital following the rare outbreak of the tropical disease aboard a flight to Frankfurt.

In August, city officials said two airport workers had tragically died of malaria while a further four had recovered from infections.
