Plateau State chapter of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has alleged that two Fulani herders and 10 cattle were killed by native gunmen in an attack on Tuesday in the Butura district of Bokkos Local Government Area of the state.

State Chairman of MACBAN, Ibrahim Yusuf Babayo, who made the allegations in a statement on Wednesday, said the victims were identified as Muazzam Aminu and Shapi’iu Abdullahi and were attacked and killed by locals without any provocation,. At the same time, over 20 cattle were also injured in the attack.

Babayo said the herders were returning from grazing when they were ambushed by the gunmen who opened fire on them and their cattle.

He added that the incident was immediately reported to the Commander of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH), the General Officer Commanding 3 Division, and the State Director of the DSS, who all promised to take action but noted that nothing has been done.

However, he confirmed that the commander of Sector 5 of OPSH, responsible for peace in the area, visited the scene on Wednesday before the funeral prayers.

He urged Fulani herders and MACBAN members in the community to remain and not to take the law into their own hands by way of a reprisal attack.
