THE M66 motorway has been partially shut after after a lorry jack-knifed, causing commuter havoc and six-mile tailbacks.

Traffic is being held between junctions one at Ramsbottom and two at Bury.

Lane two is also closed on the northbound between junction one and two due to significant damage to the central barrier.

Greater Manchester Police have been called to the scene.

A spokesperson for National Highways North West wrote on X: “Current delays of 45mins and 6 miles of south. 15mins and 2 miles of congestion north. Updates to follow.”
