A MAJOR motorway has ground to a halt following a lorry fire which has caused significant spillage.
The M65 eastbound is shut between junction six and junction seven.
All traffic caught in the closure has been released past the scene but drivers are experiencing mile long queues.
Fire crews are currently at the scene.
A spokesperson for National Highways said: “The M65 eastbound is closed between J6 and J7 due to a HGV fire, which has resulted in a significant spillage.
“Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service are on scene.
“All traffic caught within the closure has been released past scene.
“Current delays of 10 mins and 1 mile of congestion.”
