TRAFFIC has come to a standstill on a motorway near a busy airport after a horror crash.

Drivers have been warned of 25 minute delays on the M56 eastbound between J7 and J6 close to Manchester Airport.

Emergency services have scrambled to the scene after reports of a multi-vehicle crash.

A spokesperson for National Highways said: “Traffic has been stopped on the M56 eastbound between J7 and J6 due to a multi-vehicle collision.

“Emergency services are en route. There are currently delays of 25 minutes on the approach.”
