A MAJOR motorway has been forced to close following a “serious collision” in the early hours – sparking commuter chaos.
Cops have launched a probe after the crash on the M53 near Bebington, Merseyside – with drivers warned delays could last “several hours”.

Merseyside Police said: “At around 3.25am, emergency services were called to Junction 4 at Clatterbridge following the report of a serious collision.
“A full closure will be in place on both sides of the carriageway between Junctions 4 and 5 northbound and southbound.
“Please note that this is likely to be in place for several hours and drivers are advised to monitor traffic services prior to embarking on any journey.
“Further details will be provided when appropriate and thanks in advance for your patience.”
