A MAJOR motorway has been brought to a standstill in both directions after a crash.
The M11 in Essex is currently closed after a collision this morning damaged the barriers.
Drivers are currently experiencing three mile-long queues and 30 minute delays.
The smash was between junction four for Newmarket and junction eight for Stanstead Airport.
Both lanes of the motorway are closed National Highways said.
A spokesperson said: “Lane 2 (of 2) is closed on the M11 in Essex in both directions between J8 Stanstead Airport and J9 Newmarket following an earlier collision.
“Barrier repairs are being carried out. Current delays of 30 minutes in both directions, with 3 miles of congestion on approach.”
