M1 CLOSED heading out of London after crash & lorry fire leaving 6 miles of traffic & drivers delayed by an hour

MOTORISTS have been warned of lenghty delays after a multi-vehicle collision forced the closure of a major motorway.

The M1 is currently closed after a road traffic collision on the M1 northbound between junction 8 (Hemel Hempstead) and junction 9 (Luton).

The road will be closed for some time, said Hertfordshire Police.

Cops urged motorists to check routes before travelling and try to avoid the area.

Hertfordshire Police said in a statement: “We are currently dealing with a road traffic collision on the M1 northbound between junction 8 (Hemel Hempstead) and junction 9 (Luton).

“The road will be closed for some time. Please check your route before travelling and try to avoid the area.”;

M1 Northbound closed due to a serious collision and lorry fire.
Emergency services are on the scene providing assistance.
