A NORMAL-looking eight bed-home has seen £75,000 slashed off its asking price as the sellers struggle to find a buyer – due to a neighbouring “House of Horrors”.

The three-storey townhouse in Gloucester can be poached for just £350,000, which appears to be cheaper than other similar properties in the area.

And it may be because it sits just two doors down from where serial killers Fred and Rose West lived at 25 Cromwell Street.

Their home was dubbed the ‘House of Horrors’ after nine victims were found under its patio and cellar.

The property was later torn down and the site is now a pathway.

In 1995, Rose was convicted of 10 murders, while Fred who admitted 12 murders hanged himself while on remand in prison.

He had confessed to killing up to 30 victims.

Estate agent Adam Clegg said the infamous location has been “factored into the price” of the home for sale.

He added: “Gloucester is a city that often gets overlooked, and I genuinely don’t understand why.

“It has a cathedral that rivals any in England, a historic docklands, real community spirit, and people who are fiercely proud of where they live.

“Cromwell Street carries a dark chapter in its past, but that was over thirty years ago.

“This city doesn’t deserve to be defined by it, and in my experience, most people agree. Gloucester has a bright future, and the people here know it.”

The 1,394 sq ft home is being sold by estate agents Keller Williams and is on Rightmove.

It first went on the market around a year ago for £425,000, but the asking price dropped to £375,000 in February.

It has now dropped to £350,000- making the house much cheaper than similar properties in the area, which can fetch around £525,000.

The property listing does not mention its close proximity to where the Wests buried their victims.

It reads: “A substantial terraced property positioned in the heart of Gloucester.

“As a family home, the two ground floor reception rooms stay as reception rooms, giving five bedrooms upstairs plus the separate studio, which suits letting out for extra income, a home office, or space for family.”

The property for sale has been redecorated and has new carpets.

Three of the bedrooms are on the ground floor along with a kitchen and bathroom.

There are another three on the first floor of the house – one with an en suite – and two on the second.

There is a small garden out the back and off-road parking.
