LUKE LITTER has WON the UK Open as he breaks a ten-year darts curse and joins three legends in an exclusive club.

The Nuke overcame a rollercoaster semi-final contest against Josh Rock to set up his repeat showdown with James Wade.

And despite flying out the traps against his opponent – who defeated Gerwyn Price in the other last four tie – in a bit of a rollercoaster game.

The victory also means is the first man since to defend his crown.

And only the FOURTH player to win successive UK Open titles with Raymond van Barneveld and the other two.

He also

The 19-year-old made a stunning start in the first to 11 showpiece, taking the first three legs with ease.

Wade got up and running in the fourth leg to get on the board and took the fifth as he punished Littler for missing THREE darts at Double 10.

He then grabbed a third leg of his own in succession to level things up.

Littler ended that rot in leg seven to get back on the board and started to motor on from that point.

The World No1 reeled off legs eight and nine to go three ahead once again in the race to 11.

Leg ten went to veteran Wade to keep himself in the final at the second break.

In the pattern of the final, the 42-year-old bagged leg 11 and 12 to once again reel off three successive legs – the fourth time between the duo in the match as he once again punished slack Littler darts.

The Nuke got back on the board in leg 13 to take a 7-6 lead before Wade held his throw again to level – despite a narrow scare.

In a match that was going back and forth like two boxers in the middle of a ring, Littler then landed a big checkout and let out a huge roar as he went into the break 8-7 ahead.

Wade then was punished on his throw after missing two darts at tops with Littler taking out 25 to move two ahead before holding his darts to move 10-7 up and within one of the crown.

Littler, for the championship, had three darts at 24, but failed to get out to heighten the drama.

But with three more attempts at double 6, he made no mistake.

Wade’s run to the final nets him a £60,000 consolation prize.

But he will be disappointed he couldn’t land the major blow on the champion and walk away with the title and six-figure jackpot.
