MITCHELL LAWRIE has been informed by Luke Littler that “he’s going to make a significant impact” in darts as he matures.
Last Sunday, the gifted 15-year-old Scottish schoolboy was denied a moment of sporting history as he faced a tough match on the oche.

The Renfrew thrower aimed to become the youngest winner of a senior world title, just hours after lifting the world youth trophy.
However, in the final of the WDF World Darts Championship, he faltered after leading 3-0, as Dutchman Jimmy van Schie, aged 32, won six consecutive sets to secure the £50,000 Lakeside crown 6-3.
Nonetheless, his performance on debut significantly enhanced his profile in the sport.
This situation mirrored Littler's experience when, at the age of 16 two years ago, he reached the final before losing to his opponent.
Littler, being three years older and currently the top player in the world, is encouraged by the achievements of the young Scot, known as Wee Sox, over the past few weeks.
The two also share the same sponsor, Target Darts, and are likely to meet on the dartboard in the future.
When asked what advice he would give to Lawrie to help him stay on the right track, Littler responded: “Obviously, Mitchell’s doing his own thing. He’s playing well.
“He has a supportive family around him. I’m pleased that Target has him on board. No one else has signed him.
“But yes, he just needs to keep working hard. He’s still very young.
“Being only 15, he must be eager to turn 16 and then participate in the PDC Development Tour.
“He’s going to make a significant impact. Yes, he’s doing impressive things.
“One thing I appreciated was when he said, 'He’s Mitchell Lawrie, not .'
“Have I ever talked to him? Yes, I’ve seen him twice. Twice when I traveled to Gibraltar for the JDC Tour.
“Back then, he was just 13. But I can tell you now, he has matured a lot since then.”
