However, the 30-year-old has surprised fans by disclosing that he may forgo a significant portion of the PDC Pro Tour calendar in 2026 to remain fresh for major competitions.
Cool Hand Luke revealed that the floor events do not ignite the same passion within him.
He stated: “I’ve been contemplating not participating in any Players Championships next year, to be honest.
“In fact, I might skip the entire tour because it’s so hectic, and I need to prioritize my commitments.
“I’ll assess how I feel. It’s 34 weeks, 34 days of competition.
“I might try it at the beginning, and if things don’t go well, I might just opt out and focus on everything else.
“Certainly, it’s a busy lifestyle – not overly busy. I heard what someone said yesterday, and they’re correct. We shouldn’t complain; we’re fortunate to be involved in so much darts.
“I’m not complaining; it just might be my choice to spend those 34 days at home and miss one significant tournament to make that sacrifice. I’ll see how it unfolds.
“I still enjoy playing in the Pro Tour to some extent, but it’s challenging. I perform my best on the big stage.
“On the floor, I just don’t – so it’s more difficult for me.”
Humphries risks missing the Players Championship Finals in Minehead next season if he follows through with his decision.
This major tournament features the top 64 players from the Players Championship Order of Merit, which is a separate ranking system that only considers the non-televised floor events on the Pro Tour.
