LIVERPOOL and Everton renew hostilities in Wednesday's Merseyside derby at Anfield.
Liverpool vs Everton preview
It's felt like an eternity but the Premier League is back and it's back with a BANG as Liverpool and Everton clash in the Merseyside derby.
With the international break and neither team involved in the FA Cup, it's been over two weeks since these sides last played.
And you would have to say that it's been a more enjoyable break for the Toffees.
Liverpool have been forced to dwell on their elimination from the Champions League AND Carabao Cup final defeat to Newcastle United in the space of five days.
They've also had had to come to terms with Trent Alexander-Arnold looking increasingly likely to join Real Madrid on a free transfer.
But the Premier League title should prove a rather large consolation for Arne Slot's side, and they can take a step closer to bagging it against their arch-rivals at Anfield on Wednesday.
Liverpool are currently 12 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with nine games remaining – five of those on home turf.
They've also won their last three Premier League home games against Everton and have lost just one of their last 24 top-flight home clashes against the Toffees (W14 D9), winning five of the last six at Anfield.
As for visiting Everton, this is something of a free hit.
The Blues have virtually assured their top-flight status after a terrific run of nine Premier League games unbeaten under David Moyes – putting themselves 17 points clear of the relegation zone,
Indeed, it’s the Toffees’ longest unbeaten run going into a league meeting with Liverpool since February 2010.
However, Moyes has won none of his 19 Premier League away games against Liverpool, the joint-most any manager has faced an opponent on the road without a single victory in the competition.

Win to Nil
It's been 48 days since that euphoric night when James Tarkowski netted a 98th-minute equaliser in the last-ever Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
But it feels unlikely that Everton fans will be leaving with the same sense of delirium on Wednesday.
As mentioned, Liverpool have lost just one of their last 24 Premier League home games against Everton – winning their last three at home by a 2-0 scoreline. They've also scored at least twice in 26 of their 29 Premier League games this season, including each of their last nine in a row, and their last 12 in a row at Anfield.
David Moyes has been the saviour for the Toffees since his arrival, but his record is dismal against Liverpool having won none of his 19 Premier League away games against the Reds.

Mo goals
He turns up against the Toffees...
Egyptian superstar Mohamed Salah has been directly involved in eight goals in his last seven Premier League Merseyside derbies for Liverpool against Everton (6 goals, 2 assists) – scoring and assisting in the reverse fixture at Goodison Park.
The only players to score and assist in both of their Premier League matches against Everton in a single season are Chris Sutton in 1993-94 and Alan Shearer in 1994-95.
Admittedly he was extremely quiet against PSG and Newcastle, but he scored and provided an assist for Egypt during the international break and should take that momentum into Wednesday's encounter.
