The 2025/2026 Premier League season will be preceded by the Community Shield match between Liverpool and Crystal Palace.

The traditional curtain-raiser is always played between the league winners and FA Cup champions.

In Arne Slot’s first season in England, the Reds clinched a record-equalling 20th title.

Liverpool finished 10 points ahead of Arsenal, dethroning Manchester City who had won it four years in a row.

Slot is not looking to slow down. Although Trent Alexander-Arnold has left for Real Madrid as a free agent, Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, Hugo Ekitike and Milos Kerkez have arrived at Anfield.

For Palace, they still have playmaker Eberechi Eze, who scored the winner for them against City at Wembley.

Eze is being strongly linked with a move to Arsenal, but this could be his last game for the Eagles. Another chance to deliver silverware for the Selhurst Park club.

Only Manchester United and Arsenal have won the Community Shield more times than Liverpool.

Palace, meanwhile, are playing in the fixture for the first time ever.

The game kicks off 3pm at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
