PREMIER LEAGUE champions Liverpool welcome Arsenal to Anfield for Sunday’s blockbuster encounter.
Liverpool vs Arsenal preview
Liverpool and Arsenal clash at Anfield on Sunday in a fixture that many had predicted to be a monumental title decider.
It’s not.
Arne Slot’s side wrapped up the Premier League title with four matches to spare to claim a record-equalling 20th title.
It means that Liverpool are simply playing for pride, bragging rights and the opportunity to turn a bad week into a hellish one for Mikel Arteta.
Arsenal’s bid to reach the Champions League final ended in failure as they were beaten by PSG at Parc des Princes midweek.
The Gunners failed to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit and ultimately lost on the night despite a top-class display in Paris.
Their barren run without a trophy now extends to five years and they now must travel to Anfield and give their opponents a guard of honour.
Mikel Arteta has to lift his squad to ensure they finish in the Premier League’s top five and return to the Champions League next season.
But that could be easier said than done against a Liverpool side who are formidable on home turf.
They’ve won 14 of 17 league games at Anfield with just one defeat all season. The Reds are also unbeaten in their last 14 home games against Arsenal in all competitions.
Arsenal are, however, unbeaten in their last five Premier League games against Liverpool (W2 D3), their longest run without defeat against the Reds since a run of eight between October 2007 and April 2011.

Home win
It’s a daunting assignment for Mikel Arteta to rouse his players for a trip to Anfield so soon after their Champions League exit. Arsenal may struggle to hit their stride following the deflating defeat to PSG â and newly crowned champions Liverpool are hardly the ideal opponents in such a scenario.
The Reds, who rested key players in last weekend’s defeat to Chelsea, are expected to return to full strength for what is their penultimate home fixture of the campaign. Arne Slot will be keen to maintain momentum and end the season in style.
Liverpool’s formidable home record speaks for itself â 14 wins from 17 league games at Anfield, with just one defeat all season. They’re also unbeaten in their last 14 home meetings with Arsenal in all competitions.
At Evens, the hosts look an excellent price to claim all three points.

Mo Goals
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has scored 11 Premier League goals against Arsenal, only netting more against Manchester United (13) and Tottenham (12).
His first ever goal in the competition came against the Gunners in a 6-0 win for Chelsea in March 2014. He netted in his last home clash against Spurs and still ranks joint-second for most attempts on goal (13) in the entire division over the last four league games.
